Plush toy-maker creates ‘Cecil the Lion’ Beanie Baby
Cecil the Lion – the king of the jungle allegedly killed by an American big game hunter last month – is being memorialized as a plush toy.
Mr Warner hopes the sale of the Cecil beanie baby would comfort those saddened by the loss the much loved lion and bring awareness for animal conservation.
Cecil was a famous attraction at the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.
Profits from the sales will go to the British-based Wildlife Conservation Research Unit, the Oxford University organization that had been tracking the 13-year-old lion until Walter Palmer, a dentist, shot the lion with a bow and arrow.
Warner, a billionaire, is known for his philanthropy but also for being convicted of tax evasion.
The corporate has supported animal causes up to now. Additionally, the corporate through the years has created particular Beanie Infants for a number of zoos and aquariums nationwide, together with the Brookfield Zoo, a spokeswoman stated.
As recently as May, Delta, based in Atlanta, said it would continue to allow animal trophy shipments – as long as they were legal. On the time, some worldwide carriers prohibited such cargo.
