PM Modi Arrives in New York
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will visit Ireland on Wednesday, will hold discussions with his Irish counterpart Enda Kenny and will attend a working lunch hosted in his honor by the latter.
In the first leg of his seven-day trip, he will visit Ireland, marking first Prime Ministerial visit from India in nearly 60 years.
He said there are so many things which are common between India and Ireland and both the countries can expand cooperation in various areas.
Reports say the living room of PM Modi’s suite, which is on the 35th floor, has items used by earlier usa presidents, like the rocking chair of John F Kennedy, and also their portraits.

In this context, he asserted that India has been a leading voice on universal nuclear disarmament since Independence and will remain strongly committed to that goal.
“By reaching out directly to the American corporate sector, Modi hopes to bolster economic ties with the United States and project India as a prominent investment destination”, wrote Harsh V. Pant in a commentary in the Wall Street Journal.
Media mogul 21st Century Fox chairman Rupert Murdoch, along with his son and CEO of the company James Murdoch, will host Narendra Modi on the Indian Prime Minister’s New York visit later this week. He then travels on to the West Coast of the USA, where he will address the Indian community in the Silicon Valley and hold meetings with top tech CEOs as part of this two-nation, three-city tour which concludes on September 29.
Sluggish economy back home beset with dwindling American IT projects make it an eye-opener for Indian strategists to look elsewhere for deals than merely pointing a finger at China and shirk the responsibility of job creations in both countries. “I left India in 1959 as there were no jobs or opportunities”.
“I’ve been within the Valley for 20 years, and I’ve by no means seen Indian coverage or management have a deep engagement with the Valley” till now, stated Punit Soni, chief product officer for Flipkart, India’s largest e-commerce firm and a former Google government.
CIIE will also sign an agreement with corporates and academic partners in the USA to jointly build and scale-up disruptive innovations for India through financial aid and collaboration. In Ireland cricket is just a small, albeit fast growing sport.
Majority were from New Jersey and New York and had high expectations from the Prime Minister.
“I leave convinced that India and Ireland must invest more to realise the vast potential of this relationship”.
