PM Modi to inaugurate Rs 9700 crore road projects in Bihar
“It is like another political “jumla” (saying) for the people of Bihar, which will have no impact”, Mr Prasad said.
On Wednesday, Sushil Kumar Modi, BJP leader accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of trying to “hide” crime data for “face saving”.
Ahead of elections in Bihar, Modi announced this huge package on Tuesday at a public meeting in Arrah, promising that the state will touch new heights of development if the BJP is voted to power in the elections.
The minister said that while Bihar’s total plan expenditure for 2014-15 was Rs 54,000 crore, the package provided for the state was to the tune of Rs 1.25 lakh crore besides the Rs 40,000 crore earmarked for ongoing projects.
“This package proves I am a man who delivers what he promises”.
Calling it a “pre-election bribery”, Janata Dal (U) is likely to complain to Election Commission against Modi’s announcement of Rs 1.25 lakh crore package for Bihar.
Bihar that is going to Assembly polls later this year has over 8,500 km of National Highways and State Highways. Since then, the BJP appears to have dropped its support for granting special category status to the state. Quite a few of the demands made by Nitish in that memorandum, like the new airport for Patna, roads, educational institutes, have been met in Modi’s special package today.
Kumar attended many development functions at his native Nalanda district during the day.
Kumar took serious exception to the manner in which Modi made the announcement and wondered whether he thought Bihar was being put to “auction”. The priorities have been focused on roads, railways, airways, waterways and digital connectivity for the development of Bihar in this package so that it would lead to rise industries in Bihar, the youth would have the opportunities of employment and the farmers would get the maximum returns on their products. “Those who cannot leave their arrogance should be left or not?”, he said, without naming the chief minister. “The footfall of “Jungle Raj” is already being heard in Bihar”, he said, citing State Government’s crime figures.
Modi also hit out at the Congress with whom Nitish now has alliance, and asked the people “who sent Jayaprakash Narayan to jail”. “Save my izzat, give me something, anything, de do bhai de do”, said the PM in disparaging tones of the chief minister of the state and certainly not becoming of his office.
Prasad claimed investment proposals came up in Bihar only till 2012-2013 when the BJP was part of the ruling coalition.
They have realised that Kumar can not work for the welfare of Bihar or nation.
