PM Modi Visits Jammu, Likely To Announce Rs 70,000 Development Package
Modi disapproved of political untouchability as he addressed the function which was attended by Jaitley, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi and senior Congress leader Karan Singh.
“The example is the sons in law he chose”, the Prime Minister said in a lighter vein in an obvious reference to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, son-in-law of the late politician.
Girdhari Lal Dogra was a truly committed and 24 karat Congressman who was dedicated to the cause of poor and down trodden irrespective of caste, creed, colour, region or religion, Mr Azad said while paying tributes to the late Congress leader on his 100th birth anniversary at party headquarters here this morning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here on Friday on a day-long visit to this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Son-in-laws should not be known by their father-in-law’s name and vice versa.
Modi also said that while all parties were united at the event, in three days they would clash in Parliament hinting that the government is ready for a stormy Monsoon session which starts on July 21.
“Today in politics, there is a need to ensure that our heritage is not divided”.
He said that Dogra was one of the tallest leaders of his time who rose from a humble background to contribute to the establishment of democracy and work for promotion of peace and harmony in the state, said Azad.
According to the reports, PM is likely to announce a development package of around Rs 70,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir during his visit.
Mentioning to the photo exhibition he introduce premature today, Narendra Modi said: “Not a single person of his family is seen in his photographs”.
“There should not political untouchability”.
While disapproving political untouchability, Modi recalled that soon after Atal Bihari Vajpayee took over as Prime Minister, a senior Communist leader had died in Kerala.
