Lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan, who was expelled by Mr Kejriwal from the AAP earlier this year, tweeted, “From crs on personality cult promoting Kejriwal ads to “Jai Ho Kejriwal” instead of Jai Hind”.

I agree this is a wrong practice. “I will stop this practice forthwith”, he said.

Reacting to the episode, Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai said, “We enquired about it and came to know that it’s a tradition”.

I think it is deliberate mischief.

The photographs of the students forming the CM’s name also created a storm on social media with people drawing parallels between Kejriwal and Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

“The government, in normal course would not have reacted on the Independence Day, but attempts have been made by certain quarters to show as if a new practice has been started in the placards displayed by children”, the CMO said.

While state Congress chief Ajay Maken decried it as a “shame”, Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay condemned the government for “politically misusing” the Independence Day function.
