PM Nawaz leaves on a three-day official visit to Belarus
During the visit, Sharif will hold delegation-level talks with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.
The two leaders also agreed on forging closer ties in the areas of trade, defence, education and culture as they inked another set of agreements in a short span of over two months.
In brief comments to the media, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi said that the Belarusian President applauded the Prime Minister’s strong and consistent endeavour to promote a peaceful neighbourhood in South Asia. Nawaz Sharif to hold meeting with Belarusian president.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said Pakistan wants promotion of bilateral relations with Belarus in different sectors.
Earlier, the two countries signed 14 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) of cooperation in various fields.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived at the Palace of Independence to attend his official welcome ceremony, where he was received by President Alexander Lukashenko. The PM’s delegation includes Information Minister Pervez Rashid, Minister for defence Production, Rana Tanveer, Minister for National Food & Security, Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Minister for Commerce, Engr.
President Lukashenko congratulated the people of Pakistan with regard to its independence day falling on August 14 and said the people of Belarus would be with them on this joyous occasion.
Sharif will also participate at the Pakistan-Belarus Business and Investment Forum.
During his visit he will meet the Prime Minister of Belarus while meetings with Chairman of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Council of the Republic are also scheduled.
It is the first ever visit of any Pakistani premier to the Eastern European country.
