Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged citizens with undisclosed income to come clean by September 30.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday advised tax defaulters to avail of the benefits of the Income Declaration Scheme or face prosecution, which the government will start after the window expires on September 30.
The IDS is an important step by the Government to rein in undisclosed income and assets as it provides an opportunity to all persons who have not declared income correctly in earlier years to come forward and declare such undisclosed income. That is why I am saying it is a good chance to become part of a transparent system.
“Let me tell the countrymen that this chance is till September 30”.
“No questions would be asked about the source of the undisclosed income or assets if the declaration is made voluntarily by September 30”. They do this to avoid paying their taxes. “This is matter for pride for the entire country”, said Modi adding that the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” policy of the government was being implemented in every corner of the country. The Prime Minister was addressing the nation through 21st edition of “Mann ki Baat” today. “We have to take this commitment further and strengthen it”, he added. All rights of citizens were taken away, country was turned into jail.
“Along with Jayaprakash Narayan, lakhs of people, thousands of leaders and organisations were put behind bars”. I want to request you that we lose happiness by circumventing rules.
Modi on the ocassion also congratulated the country for having the first batch of women fighter pilots inducted into the Air Force.
The minister targeted his guns on the Congress in his Facebook post – “Constitutional dictatorship imposed by Mrs Indira Gandhi forty-one years ago”.
