PM reviews security scene, women safety at police meet
The top brass of Jammu Kashmir Police will have no representation at the prestigious annual conference of country ” s top police brass which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow in Kutch district of Gujarat.
Violence perpetrated by Maoists, filling up of vacant posts in various police forces, circulation of fake Indian currency notes, smuggling of narcotics and human trafficking will also be discussed threadbare during the conference, the officials said. Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the two Ministers of State, Kiren Rijiju and Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, besides NSA Ajit Doval, will be present. Last year, in November, for the first time since its inception in 1920, the conference was organised outside Delhi and held in Guwahati, Assam. According to Gujarat Director General of Police PC Thakur, the meet will discuss inter-nal tolerance, IS’s spread, and what kind of steps could be taken to “de-radicalise Indian Muslims, as well as prevent them falling prey to the malicious propaganda” of the global terror outfit.
While a heavy security blanket is being thrown on the ground, no plane will be allowed within a radius of 50 km and additional anti-aircraft guns will be deployed to shoot down any aerial intrusion, reports noted.
“We have already alerted state police, Indian Navy, Coast Guard, BSF and other security agencies, so that no one can infiltrate from the border on land or through coastal areas of state”.
MODI IS SEVENTH Incidentally, while Narendra Modi is the seventh prime minister to visit Kutch, he will be the only PM to spend three days in the area.
Dhordo is around 80 kms from Kutch’s district headquarters Bhuj.
The day had begun early for the conference participants.
The conference was held in Delhi every year till 2013.
