Obama said he was “encouraged by the impressive nature of Modi’s commitment to clean energy”.
The slip of tongue was recorded in the first White House transcript of his remarks but later it was re-issued, correcting the “President” to “Prime Minister”.
Pressing the need for developing mechanisms to ensure affordable as well as accessible sources of clean energy, the Prime Minister said, “We look forward to comprehensive and concrete outcome in Paris with a positive agenda on combating climate change”.
The Prime Minister asserted that during his 15-month tenure, the “scale and speed” of reforms has improved significantly and even the global bodies like World Bank and worldwide Monetary Fund have forecast a high growth for India.
So until commodity prices somewhat recover and global deflationary conditions ease, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will do well to interact more with important domestic constituents like the farmers, small and medium size enterprises who provide employment to about 130 million people in the country.
Modi is scheduled to fly east Monday to meet with President Obama before returning home to India.
