Pneumonia ends DeAndre Jordan’s streak of 360 straight games
“LOS ANGELES”The last time Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan both missed a game, Kim Hughes was coaching the Los Angeles Clippers.
Jordan was sidelined because of pneumonia, ending the NBA’s longest active consecutive games played streak at 360.
Aldrich filled in with a solid performance.
On Cole Aldrich filling in: Cole knows who he is. “Whenever his number is called, he comes in and does whatever he has to do”. It’d be especially convenient to get him back for the tough game in Cleveland. The Los Angeles Clippers won’t win until they move their team to another stadium, city and state.
Miami coach Erik Spoelstra took the loss hard.
Gerald Green scored 19 to lead the Heat, Dwyane Wade scored 16 and Chris Bosh had 11 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.
Miami point guard Goran Dragic was sent home from the team’s road trip to get an MRI on his lingering left calf strain and is expected to miss at least three games. Initially, Miami did not seem to miss a beat without Dragic, leading by as much as 16 in the first half before Los Angeles cut the deficit to single digits. The Miami Heat are averaging 97.1 points on 46.1 percent shooting and allowing 95.2 points on 43.3 percent shooting.
Prior to the victory over the Heat, the last time Los Angeles played without Griffin and Jordan was February 9, 2010.
Miami committed a season-high 24 turnovers, compared to eight for the Clippers. He said: We’re going to win this game, guys. Despite hitting seven points without reply after tip-off, they found themselves eight points down, with the scores at 25-17 at the end of the first. “We had some opportunities, but they did a good job of getting back, gambling at certain times, and we did some lazy passing”. And while the Warriors would feel like the most obvious choice, what with their Showtime 2.0 style of play, the Lost Angeles Clippers are putting together something of a run believe it or not. “It was just bad, bad basketball in that third quarter”. “I just felt in the third quarter they just turned it up a notch”.
Over at CBS Sports Matt Moore and Zach Harper went back-and-forth on the are they aren’t they about the Clippers’ prospects.
“I can tell you he was doing everything he could to try to play this game”, Rivers added.
“It’s just the spirit that I think that we’ve been playing with”, Paul said.
Aldrich, stepping in for the sickly DeAndre Jordan, couldn’t have done a better DJ impression, though what the world really needed in all of this was Cole putting someone on a poster. When Griffin will make his return is anybody’s guess as there isn’t a definite timetable for his recovery. He said he hopes to be on the court by sometime next week when the team embarks on a trip through the Eastern Conference.
