Pochettino: Tottenham can win the title
Tottenham’s Clinton N’Jie is set to miss two months of action after having surgery on a knee ligament injury, having picked up the damage while playing against Monaco in the Europa League earlier this month.
It is the latest setback for the Cameroonian, who joined on a five-year deal from Lyon in the summer but had to wait until September 17 to make his debut because of a hamstring problem.
“You never know because every day it’s about how the knee responds but maybe two months or a little bit more”. Although Pochettino says that the Belgian attacker Nacer Chadli can also play as a striker if required, he has admitted that Spurs are keeping an eye out for forwards in January.
Tottenham face Norwich on Boxing Day and the Argentine said: “In football all is possible”.
Spurs have been a consistent force this season – hampered only by a number of draws from winning positions – and finally moved into the top four with the 2-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday following Manchester United’s home defeat to Norwich. “Maybe the team deserve more praise than we have so far”.
Pochettino added: “Can we win the title?”
Spurs have one of the youngest squads in the country and the club have not won the domestic crown since 1961 – but Pochettino refused to rule out a challenge in the second half of the season.
“Sometimes they deserve more praise for the position they have”.
“The last 10 games are very important, and how you get to that stage decides whether you can attack different objectives or achieve important things”.
