Poehler & Fey reprise Hillary & Palin for SNL spoof
In the process, they brought back two of their biggest impressions: Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton.
The new Tina Fey/Amy Poehler joint, Sisters, isn’t an official Saturday Night Live movie like Wayne’s World (yay!) or A Night at the Roxbury (ugh!), but it may as well be.
Tina Fey & Amy Poehler are unbelievable comedians, hosts, showrunners, and real-life friends.
SNL’s current Clinton, Kate McKinnon, is visited by her past self (Poehler) in the sketch and Fey’s former V.P. wannabe pops in to say, “Oh, geez, it looks like I went through time and space again”. Sure, it’s not all models, music superstars, and young women with shows on HBO in your typical squad, but Amy and Tina have that covered.
The scene is Christmas Eve at the Clinton house, on Saturday Night Live’s holiday episode.
2015 Clinton brushes the warning aside, saying that she’s running against a “human Birkenstock”, Bernie Sanders.
Tina and Amy then spoofed Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video with their own version called “Tina and Amy’s Dope Squad”, which included people like their nannies and their gynecologists. But Poehler’s character and Fey’s character have come together, in Clinton’s dream, to give the Democratic presidential frontrunner some campaign advice.
And although Fey has often declared her love for Star Wars, her work-wife Amy Poehler makes it very clear that she feels the opposite: “I don’t care about Star Wars!”. “You poor thing, I heard that after you lost you had to become a secretary”, she joked talking about Clinton becoming President Barack Obama’s Secretary of State. The cast of Sisters were guests on Late Night with Seth Meyers Thursday night, and Meyers, like many other late-night hosts, had a Star Wars-themed activity planned.
