Pokémon Go finally gets United Kingdom launch
Anyone can have it downloaded from the App Store from anywhere as long as he has a US account for instance.
It shot to first place in Apple’s list of top-earning apps in the United States in less than a day, and has overtaken apps like Twitter in terms of daily active users on Android.
The game now populates “Pokéstops” and “gyms”, real-world locations that users physically have to navigate to in order to play the game, using points of interest in Google Maps.
Google’s maps service is relied upon by Pokémon Go, but is not supported fully in Korea due to some local issues. With more downloads than Tinder, more active users than Twitter, and more engagement time than Facebook, the app has become an overnight behemoth-but not without making a few Poké-faux pas. It will backfire. Watch as my prediction will unfold on Pokemon GO. However, that doesn’t mean people elsewhere can’t play it yet. This is my prediction.
Anyway, you’re going to see a lot more people dawdling around with their phones and potentially shrieking in excitement while staring at nothing. To progress in the game, they must walk around to find and catch Pokemon and access specific locations called Pokestops – where Pokeballs and other useful items are collected.
