Pokemon announces new character for upcoming film

Created by humans 500 years ago, Magearna (SPOILER ALERT) becomes the target of the movie’s villain, who plans to use its powers to rule over an entire kingdom (END SPOILER).

“Pokemon XY and Z: Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna” will see the return of Ash, Pikachu, Serena, Jessie and James, Meowth, Clement and Bonnie.

Magiana, the new mythical Pokemon revealed for the next movie, featuring Volcanion, has received its name romanisation. The latest legendary pocket monster was revealed earlier tonight, as The Pokemon Company unveiled the man-made marvel known as Magearna.

“Ash meets the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion when it crashes down from the sky, creating a cloud of dust – and a mysterious force binds the two of them together! One of the greatest battles in Pokemon history is about to unfold”, Nintendo said of the film’s premise. Ash and the mythical Pokemon will have to work together to save the city of cogs and gears from a corrupt minister.

Based on its metallic body, fans believe Magearna could be at least partly Steel type. Fans will learn more about Magearna when it makes its worldwide debut as part of the next Pokemon movie, which now does not have a title.

Beginning life in 1998, in less than 2 short years the Pokemon franchise will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. In other words, it’s a Pokemon that was created by human hands. The company may also have some surprises lined up for “Pokemon Day” on February 27th, which marks the actual anniversary of the original game’s release.
