Pokemon GO is Finally Out in the UK Wild

For one day, Pokemon appeared on Google Maps, letting browsers search for them at real-world landmarks.

The app also requires constant Global Positioning System access, and it uses a lot of data.

“If you want to report inappropriate locations or content, please submit a ticket on the “Pokemon GO” Support website”, a spokesperson for developer Niantic Labs told Eurogamer.

The NSPCC has called for the security features of gaming phenomenon PokemonGo to be reassessed before the app is released in the UK.

It is possible to play for free by winning “PokeCoins”, which are the app’s currency, but players can also purchase the coins through an in-app purchase.

Shares at Japanese firm Nintendo have soared by 56% since the launch of its mobile game Pokemon GO, which has become an instant hit worldwide.

“I am concerned about the extent to which Niantic may be unnecessarily collecting, using, and sharing a wide range of users’ personal information without their appropriate consent”, Franken wrote in his letter to company CEO John Hanke. Niantic confirmed that Pokemon Go’s programming actually made this impossible, but fixed the problem anyways. “We do not have any announced plans for countries beyond New Zealand, Australia, US and Germany at the moment”, wrote Chris Kramer, Vice President of fortyseven communications in an email to IGN Asia.

Starting now, Trainers in Italy, Spain, and Portugal can download Pokémon GO officially from the Play Store or App Store. The app also drains phone batteries, so users should be careful not to get stranded far from home.

Shops have begun attracting customers by advertising themselves as “Poke Stops”, a place where gamers can grab new Pokemon balls and increase their level of power within the app. It urges children to go out of their homes to walk and exercise, while others feel it might pose a threat to players and may expose them to accidents while looking at their screens as they walk.
