Pokemon GO Is The Biggest Mobile Game In The US

The highly addictive Pokémon Go has surpassed Candy Crush to become the biggest mobile game in US history, according to a new study.

In light of the Pokemon GO official launch in United Kingdom this week, Joao da Maia Jorge, founder and CEO of boomApp, offers five reasons why Pokemon GO will soon be the most used app in the UK. The record prior to that was Candy Crush Saga’s 20m. Given that Pokemon Go’s daily active users were only at 8 million a few days ago, adding another three million in the near future seems nbd. Pokémon Go uses augmented reality and Global Positioning System tracking, allowing users to find and catch Pokémon in the real world.

In the USA in particular, the game beat SnapChat’s daily active users, and continues to increase its user acquisition numbers. Given some time and continued updates with the addition of more features and gameplay elements, there’s no reason Pokemon GO should be able to climb further up the DAU ladder.

It’s no surprise how many people are playing the game, that major movie studios have reignited the fight over rights for a film adaptation of the Pokemon franchise. Companies are looking to create sponsored locations where Go users can interact through the AR interface of the game with their in-store products and advertising.

At present Pokémon Go is officially available exclusively in the US, Australia and New Zealand.
