Pokemon GO Update Blocks Root Users, Here’s How To Play It Anyway
Niantic has ensured fair gameplay in Pokemon GO by restricting players from using hacks and cheats as they are being blocked in latest game updates, Pokemon GO v0.37 for Android and v1.7.0 for iOS.
It takes 400 sweets to evolve a Magikarp, so if you never caught another Magikarp (or Gyarados) you’d be walking 400km just to evolve the one Magikarp. According to the folks at the Pokemon GO Hub, they have managed to data mine the latest version of Pokemon GO for Android and discovered that there are hints of support for Android Wear.
Players who are waiting for the “Pokemon GO” Buddy Pokemon System update for both the Android and iOS stores are in for a big surprise. You’ll also need to either restore from a stock system and boot, or remove any form of root access and Xposed you have installed.
The buddy system is pretty simple in principle. “TopJohnWu has developed a program to get around that safety net enabling you to play Pokémon Go while rooted”.
The possible bad news, however, is that it may take some time before the Gen 2 Pokemon are finally added. Then tap the menu button in the lower right corner. Now players can tap on a particular Pokemon and the game will show you which Pokestop to walk to, instead of relying on the one-two-three footstep system in previous versions. The Buddy Pokemon will appear alongside the trainer avatar and will offer “unique in-game rewards and experiences” such as the awarding of candy for walking a certain distance together. They worked for a while, but with a new update released by Niantic, the app was pushed out via the API which locked unofficial apps and all their updates to the game. The best time to choose a new buddy is when you just found a candy with your current buddy. A screen will pop up and ask you if you’re sure.
