Police could finish Johnny Manziel case by next week
Dallas police say they could conclude their domestic violence investigation of Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel by late next week.
In a brief press conference Saturday afternoon, the Dallas Police Department said they have not yet spoken to Johnny Manziel regarding an alleged assault against his ex-girlfriend in January.
The DPD also said their investigation into Manziel remains ongoing and that there hasn’t been any determination about potential charges being filed.
As police continue to investigate whether Johnny Manziel hit, kidnapped and threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend in Dallas last month, two outspoken defense attorneys took to Twitter Saturday to debate the strength of the case against him.
“Detectives are continuing with their efforts to fully investigate the facts of this case”, the police department said in a statement.
“Detectives have continued communicating with the complainant, interviewed witnesses, and received medical records from the complainant, as well as obtained video from surveillance cameras”, she said.
Boyle also told the Morning News that detectives were still trying to find a few more witnesses to complete their investigation and do their “due diligence”. It remains possible that the case could be heard before a grand jury.
Crowley mentioned an incident with Manziel at the hotel valet within her affidavit seeking a protection order, according to the report, describing an argument in Manziel’s hotel room that ended with her going down a back stairway to the valet.
Kathy Kinzer, Crowley’s lawyer, said her client had a ruptured ear drum because of the assault had trouble hearing out of her left ear as a result, according to ESPN.
Crowley told police Manziel was acting as if he were on drugs. Manziel then “threw” Crowley in the passenger seat of his auto, according to the affidavit.
“As soon as we have something pertinent to put out, we will let you know”, she said.
“I truly believe if they can’t get him help, he won’t live to see his 24th birthday”.
