Prairie View, Texas city councilman Johnathan Miller being Tased by police.
The councilman, Jonathan Miller, was stunned Thursday night in front of his Prairie View, Texas, house, and arrested.
Prairie View police said four men were being questioned about drug activity in the area when Miller, 26, interfered with the investigation.
Prairie View Police Department While Prairie View Police in Texas were questioning four men, Councilman Jonathan Miller, 26, interrupted the investigation.
Police were patrolling what they call a “high-crime area” when they stopped to question the group.
One of the guests, Brandon Woodson, said the officers were aggressive for no reason and Miller was only questioning why they were being harassed.
Police also recorded the incident with both body cameras and dash cameras. The probability of having the same officer involved in multiple types of incidences is probable, ‘ Prairie View Chief of Police Larry Johnson said, according to NBC. He was stunned with a Taser after physically resisting arrest, according to a release from the police department.
Video of the incident shows a male and a female officer telling Miller repeatedly to put his hands behind his back.
In July, Sandra Bland, 28, was arrested after a traffic stop in Prairie View.
Miller was arrested and charged with interfering with a public servant and resisting arrest.
At least two witnesses of the arrest told Channel 2 Investigates they believed the police officer who deployed his Taser, used excessive force.
“I haven’t seen anything that gives me cause for concern as far as at this point”, Johnson said.
Bland was pulled over by Trooper Brian Encinia, with whom she got into an argument over a lit cigarette, according to dashcam video released after she died while in Waller County Jail.
Unfortunately, the response of the arresting officers at the incident demonstrate the abuse of power, the misplaced authority while the Prairie View Police Chief seemed to have rigid attitude. The video clip shows a man appearing to be Miller being given commands by officers while on his knees and then falling forward after the Taser is deployed.
