Police detains passenger for violent behaviour on IndiGo flight

An IndiGo flight from Dubai to Kozhikode made an emergency landing at the Mumbai airport this morning following alleged unruly behaviour of a passenger. The passenger, a resident of Kozhikode, is reportedly mentally unstable and was travelling with his brother in the flight.
A police official also said that a case will be registered against the men based on their and the crew’s statements. “The captain of the flight went to the washroom and the passenger then started banging on the door and calling the captain a criminal”, said an officer.
The man and his brother were interrogated at the Mumbai airport by officers of IB, ATS and Mumbai police.
The crew politely requested the passenger to step down from the cart and he obliged.
As a precautionary measure, the Captain immediately informed Air Traffic control (ATC) of the situation and diverted the flight to Mumbai. The flight, 6E 89, landed in Mumbai at 9.15 am and after airline staff handed over the man to local police, it took off at 10.30 am, reported The Hindu.
“At IndiGo, safety and security of passengers and crew are of top priority and at no time safety can be compromised”.
The deputy commissioner of CIAL police at Mumbai said two passengers were detained after the airlines complained of them fighting on board the plane.
