Police find body believed to be Glen Burnie murder suspect
He says the body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death.
Police charged the girl’s relative, 18-year-old Andres Garcia, with first and second-degree murder.
Both children are related to Garcia although it wasn’t immediately clear how. “At this time, we believe it is Garcia, but can’t confirm”, the department said.
Anne Arundel County Homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Andres Garcia charging him with the following crimes in regards to the murder of the 10-year-old female victim: First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment.
Authorities claim Garcia stabbed both children about 7:42 p.m. Monday at a residence in the 6400 block of Roots Drive in Glen Burnie. It was also in Glen Burnie where his body was found in a drainage ditch late Friday morning, spokesman Lt. Ryan Frashure said. “Evidence pointed right after the assault (that) he left the house very quickly, he didn’t pack a bag, there was no indication that he grabbed clothing, nothing like that, he had no cellphone”.
Frashure said Thursday that the family, originally from the Dominican Republic, had moved to the area from northern Virginia in recent months.
