Police hunt for Missouri pair after woman abducted from home
Arrest warrants were issued for the Joplin, MO residents for first-degree kidnapping and first-degree theft of property after a Vestavia Hills woman was kidnapped from her home in the 2400 block of Monte Vista Drive on Sunday, Jan. 31.
“The two suspects are armed and unsafe and should not be confronted by anyone except law enforcement”, the Vestavia Hills Police Department said in a statement. “Also, we are so aware that our wonderful God was with us the entire way and will continue to be through out this entire journey and we now pray for peace of mind as we begin to get back to normal”.
Vestavia Hills police Lt. Kevin York told the Associated Press the Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force will be asked to help search for the suspects. We will have more on WIAT 42 News at 5 and 6.

Police say Fitzgerald can be easily identified by his tattoos. The couple let the woman go near Grandview Medical Center then headed East on U.S. Highway 280.
(This item has been corrected to reflect that the suspects are both 30, not 31). He says security video from the Microtel Inn in Tuscaloosa showed the safe being robbed before the overnight clerk was abducted early Sunday morning.
Sometime later, Connor Graves said he ran into the victim on Highway 31 in Vestavia Hills. According to Vestavia police, there will be similar charges and warrants from other local jurisdictions.
Rector said a gunman approached the manager and demanded money and her vehicle keys.
She says she called to another McDonald’s employee who was nearby and threw her keys towards him.
The woman was able to get a ride with a passing motorist who drove her back home.
Fitzgerald is facing one count of first-degree burglary, one count of first-degree kidnapping and one count of first-degree theft of property.
The homeowner said the suspect then pulled a gun and demanded the keys to the family vehicle.
Police report about 15 minutes later, the same suspect in the blue Jetta committed the home-invasion robbery in Vestavia Hills. Investigators learned it had been stolen durinng another robbery and abduction in Tuscaloosa Sunday.
