Police ID New Jersey man who drowned in Delaware River
An Edgewater Park man has been identified as the drowning victim in a mishap Sunday night at the Burlington City riverfront area near East Pearl and York Streets.
The body was found at around 7:15 p.m. An investigation into the cause of death was ongoing. Witnesses told investigators that when he was about halfway to the island, Scott started having trouble staying afloat and went under the water.
Boaters were unsuccessful in their attempt to rescue Scott prior to emergency crews arriving. “We don’t need anybody on the island and that’s been in impact for awhile”.

Earlier in the day, a Virginia man jumped into the Delaware River near the Bristol Wharf on the Pennsylvania side. According to 6ABC, Marquis Richardson, 22, was visiting and family from Camden were present at the scene following the incident reported around 10 a.m. The search for Richardson was suspended late Sunday afternoon due to a unsafe current and will continue Monday morning.
