Police interviewing some of the 12 girls found in man’s home
In a related case, authorities almost 100 miles away in Lancaster County arrested the parents of the 18-year-old, with police saying the couple had “gifted” their daughter to Kaplan for helping them out of financial difficulties.
The couple told authorities the other children in Kaplan’s home belong to them.
The interviews “will be taking place over the next couple of days to try to see just what these kids’ lives were about, who they are and obviously if there was any criminal conduct toward any of them”, said David Heckler, Bucks County district attorney.
The teenager’s parents are Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus, a formerly Amish couple from Lancaster County. At least some of them closely related to two of the suspects, parents Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus, and their children. Daniel Stoltzfus also faces charges of criminal conspiracy and statutory sexual assault, according to a criminal complaint filed by police in Bucks County.
Dr. Drew talks with Gideon King – he knows the children’s father, Daniel Stoltzfus.
Kaplan and the teenager’s parents are jailed on $1 million bail.
CNN has not been able to reach attorneys for either the Stoltzfuses or Kaplan. The children have been placed in foster care in Lancaster County.
Kaplan had told neighbors that no children lived with him, according to the complaint. They allegedly told investigators that they believed… “It looks like his own daughter to me”.
Savilla Stoltzfus spent most of her time living in the Feasterville home with Kaplan and the girls. In the meantime, investigations are ongoing, and information is being gathered.
The allegations against her are “unconfirmed”, they said.
Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus have been accused of giving their 14-year-old daughter to Lee Kaplan, 51, who is Jewish, after he helped save their farm by providing financial support four years ago.
