Police Investigating Active Shooter Near Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood
AP reports that 11 people, including five officers, have been transported to area hospitals. Buckley also confirmed that Friday’s shooting did begin at Planned Parenthood, though she did not speculate on the suspect’s motive.
At least nine people and five officers were injured in the attack.
The gunman brought items with him inside the building, according to Lt. Buckley. Investigators will continue to examine the scene for several hours to determine if they are explosives, but as of yet their nature is not known.
Although there are other buildings in the area, the shooter only went inside the clinic and remains there.
Buckley said civilians who were trapped in nearby stores have been systematically evacuated by armored SWAT vehicles.
The name of the suspect was not released. “We are trying to keep him pinned down”.
She told The Gazette newspaper that she saw two officers near a bank branch, not far from the Planned Parenthood facility.

The number of civilian victims are unknown, but at least four police officers were reported injured, in unknown condition.
The injured police officer was shot in the hand, and a second officer has been injured, law enforcement told KKTV.

The situation is now contained within the Planned Parenthood building where the shooting started, Buckley said.
Additionally, the police spokeswoman admitted that neighboring businesses still had people inside of them and said that there is a possibility that the gunman has taken hostages. Fox News reports that three officers have been injured by the gunman and that one clinic patient was injured as well. A gunman opened fire at a Planned Parenthood clinic on Friday, authorities said, wounding multiple people.
As of 4:18 p.m. Eastern, the Colorado Springs police tweeted that the shooter was still active.
Two civilians and one police officer were killed in a six-hour rampage at a Planned Parenthood building in Colorado Springs on Friday.
Later in the afternoon, other people were able to walk out of the shopping centre area accompanied by police officers toward a line of ambulances. A dispatcher said one patient was wounded at Elite Vision on Centennial Blvd. Scene is still very active.
Buckley said there was no information indicating the man had been shot.
