Police launch search after woman goes over Niagara Falls
Rescue and search crews have been unable to find a a woman who went over Niagara Falls early Saturday evening.
WIVB-TV reports it happened around 6 pm yesterday.
Investigators say that at around 6pm the woman “intentionally entered” the water close to Prospect Point on the American side of the river.
Officials with the Niagara Falls Fire Department say Canadian authorities are helping search efforts.
Police told WIVB a bystander took video of the incident which has now been handed to the authorities.
Niagara Falls is an extremely popular tourist attraction consisting of three waterfalls on the border of Canada and the US.
According to the Star, since 1903 only seven deaths involving people going over Niagara Falls have been judged to be accidents.
