Police notified after former Auburn QB Cam Newton tears down fan’s banner
Former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton led the Carolina Panthers to a 37-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, but it’s what Newton did before the game that is drawing a few unusual attention.
Luck, 21 of 36 for 252 yards, broke a 17-17 tie with a TD pass early in the fourth quarter, then helped snap a 24-24 tie by setting up Vinatieri for the field goal on the next drive. Newton had three touchdowns passing and an additional one rushing.
The Packers began the season with six straight wins, but they’ve lost two consecutive games, going on the road to face undefeated teams.
Well, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton wasn’t having it, and during pregame warmups ran up to the sign, tore it off the wall and handed it off to a staff member.
The pick came after Rodgers led an impressive charge, shaking off the shackles the Broncos had placed on him the week prior to throw for 369 yards and four touchdowns. Of course the Panthers will probably do that but these cheese heads are getting out of hand about their banner.
The 8 feet by 3 feet banner belonged to Mike Dobs of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and his family. A Newton to Devin Funchess touchdown made it a three score game yet again, but the green and gold would have their chances down the stretch.
A second-quarter offensive explosion by the Panthers ruined an otherwise satisfactory effort by the Packers defense on Sunday.
Panthers cornerback Josh Norman said he planned to begin looking at video of the Titans’ offense Monday night, and continue the film study Tuesday during the Panthers’ day off.
Down by 8, Rodgers’ fourth-and-goal pass from the Carolina 4 was intercepted by linebacker Thomas Davis. “I think that goes a long way from a leadership standpoint”. “I thought I was in position to make a lot of plays”. “He’s a really good football player”, said safety Micah Hyde. That’s [Randall] man, he’s been doing that type of thing since he got here.
“I had an easy opportunity for a pitch-and-catch touchdown, and I got scared by something”, Rodgers said, referring to the pressure from Panthers defensive tackle Kawann Short. Five of the team’s last eight games will be against division rivals.
The Panthers’ banner and flag policy states: “No banners or flags expressing support of visiting teams may be affixed to or displayed on any surface”.
