Police officer’s head-on collision with stolen vehicle captured in dramatic body
Footage from another officer’s body cam shows Bunsey popping out through the sunroof, ignoring police orders and yelling obscenities.
The incident occurred Friday afternoon in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, after police received a report about a stolen SUV.
“If anyone doesn’t think that person isn’t armed in that situation looking at our officers, you need to recalculate, this is a 4000 plus pound automobile and it can kill an officer or another human being”, Carter said.
Instead, the driver hit Stacy, sending him tumbling toward the ground.
He got out of his cruiser and fired two rounds at the driver “when it became apparent to the officer of the suspect’s intent”, police said, according to the station. He was thrown clear of the crash and joined other officers as they ran to the now stopped vehicle to arrest Bunsey.
Neither shot struck or injured her. Police had to use a taser to get her out of the vehicle. “I’m God bitc*” she shouted. She told police after that she had smoked meth.
The officer suffered minor injuries.
She is being held at Tulsa County Jail on a $79,500 bond. “We’re making him take a few days off work, just because of the ordeal”.
Ms Bunsey is now facing four felony counts including assaulting a police officer, eluding a police officer, driving under the influence and possession of a stolen vehicle, as well as a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
His police chief says with seconds to react Stacy made the right choice as the SUV came at him with force.
