Police respond to report of shooter at Western High School in Kentucky
Police searched a Kentucky high school for a gunman Friday morning.
No threats were found after police sweeped the school.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the report of a shooter appeared to be a bogus call. The situation was sourced from a 911 call about a threat on Western High School. Authorities said no shots were fired and no one was hurt.
Parents trying to go to the school are being told to report to Rockford Lane Baptist Church at 2006 Rockford Lane.
“There’s no reason to believe at this point that it’s anything but a hoax”, Yates said, adding that “we take these things very seriously” and will prosecute if police find out someone made a malicious call.
Police responded to an “active shooter” situation at Western High School in Shively on September 18. Josh Myers of the Shively Police Department said.
Hackbarth also stressed that there have been no injuries, although she said a student was transported for an unrelated illness. Anyone with tips about the call should contact the Shively Police at (502) 448-6181.
The school is resuming normal operations at this time.
Three additional security officers will join the two regular security officers at Western High School’s home game against Holy Cross on Friday Night. “Our goal is to keep our schools safe environments where all students learn at high levels”.
