Police rush to Delhi’s Kerala House on complaint of beef being served
But the team did not collect any samples from the canteen.
Kerala’s famous beef fry.
According to the senior police officer, a senior police official said that the police were not concerned about whether the said meat is served at the Kerala guest house, as that doesnt constitute any criminal offence in New Delhi. They sought to explain that beef meant “buffalo meat” only.
For now it seems Kerala House is not going to serve buffalo meat either, even though it’s perfectly legal. Few restaurants in the capital, which banned cow meat two decades ago, still serve beef but those that do use buffalo meat for their steak or beef dishes.
The incident at the Kerala House reveals that they will barge into all kitchens of the state.
New Delhi DCP Jatin Narwal had said yesterday in reference to the incident that police “dealt with the matter with necessary alertness and took their position”.
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has also hit out at the Delhi Police. They claimed that the police team visited the place to ensure that there was no trouble caused by the right wing group.
“We did not raid the premises”.
The complaint was made by a member of the right-wing Hindu Sena who said the guest house near Jantar Mantar was serving “beef curry”, said a report quoting police sources. They actually threatened to resort to violence if the “sale of cow meat” was not stopped there.
“Pratheesh told me he got to know of this from his Malayali friends in Delhi”, added Gupta.
