Police search for missing child of man who jumped off bridge
Aaden Moreno was reported missing Sunday night when his father, 22-year-old Tony Moreno, jumped from the Arrigoni Bridge between Middletown and Portland.
Police have issued a silver alert for 7-month-old Aaden Moreno.
Aaden is described as a white male with black hair and brown eyes.
Middletown Mayor Daniel Drew said police searched other sites Monday morning. “Any place that child may be, we’re searching for that child”.
Two officers spotted the despondent man jumping off the bridge about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, police said. Police say they have been interviewing family members to make sure the baby is not with them, but so far, those efforts have turned up nothing.
When officers arrived, they saw the Moreno jump, but did not see his child with him as he fell. It’s a 120-foot drop from the bridge, Desmond said.
Search crews are checking the Connecticut River between Middletown and Portland. Middletown firefighters rescued Tony Moreno and LifeStar airlifted him to Hartford Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. Police said he is in stable condition.
Charges are expected when the investigation is completed, police said.
Family members have been notified, according to police. Investigators are also contacting the father’s family and friends, to see if he left the boy in someone else’s care. “Because of the nature in which we came to know about this incident”.
