Police Searching For Escaped Prisoner in Burlington County, NJ
MOUNT HOLLY Authorities were searching Saturday for a shoeless, handcuffed prisoner who escaped while being dropped off at Burlington County Jail. Investigators say Mimms was wanted out of Delaware County, Pennsylvania and was charged with unlawfully possessing a handgun at the time of his arrest. Police said that Michael Mimms ran away from the jail around 8:30 a.m. Saturday while they were trying to place him inside.
Police say Mimms could still be wearing handcuffs in the front with a belt attached to them.
Mount Holly’s Office of Emergency Management is urging residents to report any suspicious activity on their property such as open sheds, property moved, gates opened.
Mimms is described as a 5-foot-10 black male, about 160 pounds, dressed in a dark-colored T-shirt, basketball shorts, and brown socks. The New Jersey State Police Aviation and K-9 units are also involved, Willingboro police said.
If you see the suspect, do not approach him, and contact 911 immediately.
