Police stunned after receiving 999 call about a thieving seagull
A man got into a flap when a seagull tried to steal his sandwich – before phoning 999 to report a thief.
The man even asked the operator to check CCTV to trace the feathered culprit.
“Not something that should be reported via 999 – you might be blocking an emergency call”, the police tweeted.
One woman phoned to complain that the owner of a guesthouse she was staying in was refusing to cook breakfast.
Another woman rang the police to complain about the airport losing her luggage and delivering it to her neighbours who were out.

But this afternoon, they received a call from an raging member of the public after a seagull tried to “rip his sandwich” off him.
It started at 12.01am and already hundreds of tweets have been sent out from teams and departments across the constabulary to demonstrate the breadth of work that goes on behind the scenes and on the front line to keep residents safe and prevent crime.
They said: “Man reported missing in Bath – he has been found safe and well in his own bed #ASP24”.
Another tweet said: “Man found with top off in middle of a road in Glastonbury saying he was “basking in positive energy”.
The force said they received 673 emergency 999 calls in the 24-hour period from midnight on Wednesday, July 22, and another 2,446 non-emergency calls.
One of the last calls to police, which was passed on to the fire brigade, was from a group of supermarket cleaners locked in a auto park.
