Police to investigate incident involving Manziel
Police said in a release that they received an assault complaint Friday for a January 30 incident, and Manziel was listed as the suspect. They noted it is not uncommon for victims of domestic violence to question or delay reporting an assault.
Manziel, 23, who was known as “Johnny Football” during his standout college years at Texas A&M University, has seen his reputation for partying overshadow his career with the Browns, where he has only sporadically been used as a starting quarterback since he began playing for the team in 2014. She said Manziel insisted on driving her to her apartment in Fort Worth because she was drunk.
A source close to Manziel, who spoke to the quarterback on February 5, told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that Manziel “is concerned” about all of the stories about him and said he is doing “all right”.
Erik Burkhardt announced on Friday that he will no longer be Manziel’s agent in a statement that made it clear that he believes Manziel needs help and is not taking the appropriate steps to get said help. Johnny himself has subsequent to denied that he ever hit Colleen, telling TMZ “it didn’t happen”, and that he was never self-destructive, saying “I’m totally steady”.
His father, Paul Manziel, told The Dallas Morning News that he anxious that without help, his son “won’t live to see his 24th birthday”.
According to WFAA, Manziel is banned from seeing his ex, Colleen Crowley, for two years, after the order was signed by a judge on Wednesday. The Browns don’t release Manziel immediately because they don’t have the salary cap space to do so. “The preliminary investigation determined that a possible assault had occurred in that jurisdiction or multiple jurisdictions”, the Fort Worth police said in a statement. Vincent said the worry now isn’t about Manziel as a player but a person.
Based on a report released by the Fort Worth police, Manziel allegedly struck Crowley several times at the Hotel ZaZa in downtown Dallas.
“The NFL definitely has everything that it needs to be able to help him, all the resources that it needs to help”, Bush said.
“I don’t know what will happen next with this case – that’ll be up to the Dallas Police Department”, she said in the statement, which also asked for privacy.
The Browns have already said they plan to dump Manziel next month. Both police departments investigated the incident but didn’t charge Manziel.
Burkhardt isn’t the first to cut business ties with Manziel. Cavaliers star LeBron James’ marketing agency ended its association with him last month. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
