Police union threatens ‘surprise’ for Quentin Tarantino
The whole situation jumped off after Tarantino marched with protesters against police brutality on October 24 in Manhattan.
Jim Pasco, the FOP’s executive director, sent a statement to Hollywood Reporter where he blasted Tarantino for supposedly calling cops “murderers”, and implied that “something is in the works”, in addition to boycotting The Hateful Eight.
Since his rousing speech, a few cops and their supporters have stated that they would boycott Tarantino’s upcoming film Hateful Eight.
New York police Commissioner William Bratton and numerous police groups, including the National Association of Police Organizations have condemned Tarantino’s comments, but Tarantino has said he’s being “demonized” by the police groups.
Texas representative Ted Poe, a Republican, called Tarantino’s comments “idiotic” and said they “encourage mischief and crimes” against officers.
The President of the Baltimore Fraternal Order of Police is joining other law enforcement groups in condemning recent comments made by Academy Award-winning director Quentin Tarantino.
“Whatever Quentin Tarantino was thinking back at the start of his “murderers” flap, he’s now plainly using dead cops to promote his new movie…” While at the demonstration, Tarantino said, “when I see murder, I can not stand by and I have to call the murdered the murdered and the murderers the murderers”.
“We announce our intention to stand with our law enforcement colleagues around the country in sold support of the boycott of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film”, Ryan states.
“All of the sudden, he’s really not a cop hater, but at the same time we’re trying to intimidate him?” I have to call the murdered the murdered. “I mean Star Wars is about to take over the known media universe”. That’s not what I said…
“At the same time the company released the movie ‘Fruitvale Station, ‘” he said referring to a 2013 film about the shooting death of Oscar Grant by an Oakland, California transit officer. He has since gone public to clarify his remarks, saying that he is not anti-police, but against unarmed men and women being killed by them. “He made his decision, we know what his heart and mind says”, Lynch said.
