Police working to clear buildings on A-State campus
The men, all wearing black, were last seen walking north near Dean Street, university officials said.
Jonesboro, Arkansas, police said no shots had been fired and that city officers checking buildings had found no gunmen.
The campus of Arkansas State University was on lockdown late Sunday afternoon amid reports of two or three men on campus with guns, according to reports.
Arkansas State tweeted on Sunday evening that the scare seems to have been prompted by students who were filming near the Student Union. The university’s text and email alert system was used to notify students about the situation. The university response plan worked perfectly as designed.
Police are continuing to investigate and are reviewing security footage of the area.
No injuries have been reported. As a result, police were able to determine that there were no gunmen on campus.
Police gave the all clear around 2:45 p.m. and said normal operations could resume.
