Poll Shows Trump With Big Lead In GOP Primary Race
It was hard to keep track of the number of times Donald Trump stereotyped Jews in a speech Thursday – to the Republican Jewish Coalition.
Trump sat down and shared his views on Israel in an AP Conversation – a series of extended interviews with the 2016 candidates to become the nation’s 45th president.
The feud between Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz continues to grow in advance of the December 15 debate in Las Vegas, and Cruz on Friday demanded his Florida rival “correct false claims about America’s intelligence gathering capabilities”. In RealClearPolitics’ average of polling, Trump has 30.8 percent support, more than 18 points ahead of Carson, who remains in second with 17.5 percent.
His speech came at the tail end of a morning of addresses in which the other Republican candidates boasted of their pro-Israel credentials and their close ties to the US Jewish community. Rand Paul has 1 percent.
Trump is also the top candidate on foreign policy, though Cruz and Rubio trail him in that category by only 13 and 16 points respectively. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percent.
In an indirect reaction to Trump’s comments, Senator Marc Rubio said: “Some in our own party have actually questioned Israel’s commitment to peace”. Cruz leads among college-educated voters with a 22% share, followed by Carson, Rubio and then Trump.
Several other recent polls have shown Mr Trump reclaiming a solid lead atop the Republican field after several weeks of near parity with Mr Carson, CNN noted. But, the new poll found Trump with his widest lead and broadest support in any national telephone poll since June, when Trump announced his candidacy.
Across the board, a majority of Republicans polled said they trusted Trump to address a diversity of issues, from the economy to foreign policy to battling ISIS.
“The voters understand that to lead the United States, you need a person who knows more than how to sell products, with all due respect to Donald Trump, and everything he has achieved in his career”, Zell said. Sixty percent of voters who reported USA economy as an “extremely important” issue in their decision to cast a vote now support Trump. Realizing our poll was being done at a point while Carson was falling nationally in the polls… if the Republican primary were held today, Trump would win.
About 55 percent of GOP voters that are most interested in the illegal immigration issue said that they would back the businessman, while 49 percent of those interested in solving radical extremism view Trump as the right man for the job.
