Pollution woes: Delhi announces new odd-even formula
Delhi Police today said they have taken note of AAP government’s odd-even formula of restricting movement of private vehicles in the national capital from January one but need some more clarity on the matter.
There will be a pollution check at 200 places.

The minister said a decision whether or not to include more than 5 million motorcycles and mopeds in the ban has yet to be taken, as he promised to strengthen the public transport system by introducing more buses and increasing the frequency of metro train services.
The Arvind Kejriwal government will prepare a detailed policy in this regard and table the same in a Cabinet meeting soon.
The numbers-based approach is part of a slew of measures announced by the territory’s government to curb pollution; the government also plans to shutter some power plants and vacuum streets.

The announcement about Sunday – pending till now – came a day before the Delhi government will undertake a thorough review of the restrictions on vehicular traffic in the capital.
A fine will be slapped on violators.
“Besides, Metro will also be asked to increase their working hours so that people don’t have to face problem while using public transport”.
According to the government’s formula, cars with odd-numbered number plates will be allowed to ply on the roads on odd dates, while those with even-numbered number plates will run on even dates.
In his message, which will be released tomorrow, Kejriwal sought support of people for the proposal’s success and has said it will be applicable to him and all the ministers as well, a senior government official said.
