Pomeranz, Marte, Bruce join NL All-Star team as replacements
Pirates outfielder Starling Marte and Reds outfielder Jay Bruce will replace Mets outfielder Yoenis Céspedes and Cubs outfielder Dexter Fowler, who are both nursing injuries.
Marte will join Pittsburgh closer Mark Melancon as all-stars for Tuesday night’s game in San Diego.
“I’ll be able to show him around San Diego, just kind of show him the experience of what it’s like to live in downtown San Diego”. That makes two All-Star representatives for the Padres, if you count Wil Myers, which you really should since he was picked as an All-Star earlier in the week. He’s batting.293/.358/.535 with 19 home runs and 60 RBIs, while playing half his games in an expansive cave that doubles as a pitchers paradise. He is among the NL leaders in hitting, steals and outfield assists.

The Padres are in Los Angeles for a weekend series against the Dodgers to wrap up the first half of the 2016 season before the three-day All-Star break that begins Monday. The last Padre overall was Jake Peavy in 2007, so it has been awhile.
The rosters were announced on ESPN, and guests appearing on the show wore brown-and-yellow uniforms reminiscent of the old Padres duds.
After a broken hand cost him over 100 games in 2015, Myers is playing at an All-Star level in 2016.
