Pope Francis: “Leave church doors open”- Pontiff declares
Turning his attention to the gift of creation, the Pope said the anxiety that the Church has, in fact, is the fate of the human family and of all creation which needs to be nurtured in order to be passed on to future generations. “The Church is the door to the house of the Lord but she is not the proprietor of the house of the Lord”. “Open all of them!”
Francis will officially commence the yearlong observance on December when he opens the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.
While this door will be opened to everyone to offer grace of forgiveness, the Pope said we also must have the courage to enter. “We are all sinners”, he said. “We ourselves are the guardians and servants of the Door of God, Who is Jesus”, he said. “Jesus tells us that he stands knocking at our door, asking that we open it to Him”, he said. “The jubilee means to let the Lord come in and go out”.
The Roman Pontiff observed it has become the norm in many places to always keep our doors locked.
While there is a need for security, this locking of doors shouldn’t apply to all areas of our life, be it family life, our cities, society – and especially the Church.
