Pope visit could delay delivery of iPhones
Apple’s next generations of iPhones go on sale in stores Friday.
Postal services will have other operations halted by the Pope’s visit as well.
Normal service is expected to resume on Friday.
If you’re a New Yorker, Pope Francis may be the reason why your new iPhone may be a day or two late. However, if you live in New York this year that may change.
Inclement weather, production delays, and glitches are some of the most common factors in delayed deliveries, particularly for tech products such as Apple devices.
In D.C., 11 zip codes are being affected from Tuesday through Thursday: 20001, 20002, 20004, 20005, 20006, 20008, 20016, 20017, 20018, 20036 and 20037. Those areas include parts of downtown and midtown, as well as portions of the Upper East and Upper West Sides.
No pickups and deliveries will be available Thursday and Friday in the zip codes 10001, 10007, 10017, 10021, 10022, 10023, 10029. Pope Francis will be making appearances in those areas at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, United Nations headquarters, 9/11 Museum, Central Park, Madison Square Garden on Friday and Saturday.

Failing to mention the Pope by name as the cause of the traffic concerns, Apple promised those hit by delays shouldn’t have too long to wait to get their mitts on the new phone.
