‘Possibility’ San Bernardino was terrorist attack

The Los Angeles Times, citing Cervantes, reported that suspects were heavily armed and may have been wearing body armor.

A possible explosive device was founded by police searching the Inland Regional Center after the shooting, and police say the S.U.V. may also contain explosives.

Police estimate that at least 14 people have been killed and 14 taken to hospitals with significant injuries at a social services facility in Southern California.

FBI Los Angeles Director David Bowdich said during a news briefing that investigators had not ruled out a terrorist attack, saying “it is a possibility but we don’t know this yet”.

Pressed on the motive for the shooting, in which 14 were killed and 17 were wounded, Barguan said, “Until we know the motive… But we have no idea if those were the people who came back”, Burguan said.

Public records show that a man bearing the same name worked as an environmental health specialist for San Bernardino County, where the shooting took place.

Farhan Khan, who is married to Syed Farook’s sister, spoke to reporters at the Anaheim office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

The San Bernardino Fire Department said on Twitter it was responding to reports of a “20 victim shooting incident”.

The bomb squad was working to disarm it.

At a Shell gas station about a block from the shooting site, store manager Ana Fuentes said there was a flood of police activity in the area.

A spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department told the Riverside Press Enterprise there were “multiple victims”.

“It was really, really super scary”, he told local TV, as he wept. He said she wrote: “People shot”. Authorities said a third person was detained after running from the scene of the shootout.

In 2015, the USA has seen as many as 351 mass shootings in just 334 days.

In October, a gunman killed nine people at a college in OR and in June a white gunman killed nine black churchgoers in SC.

The reality, though, at least in the United States, is that mass killings rarely involve multiple shooters.

The shooting happened in a conference room in which a Christmas party for people attending the centre was believed to have been under way.
