‘Possible armed subject’ has been reported on Virginia Commonwealth University
Cops in Richmond, Virginia, are on campus at Virginia Commonwealth University while they investigate reports about an armed man on campus.
Just before 11am, the school issued an alert about a “possible armed subject” near the school’s Richmond campus.
Virginia Commonwealth University is advising people to avoid the area and said that university police are on the scene.
Investigators described the possible suspect as a male wearing a green shirt and jacket, a “square, military-style cap”, and a black backpack.
There are 31,163 students enrolled and 2,229 full-time faculty members at the university, according to the school website.
The alert system broadcast the all clear shortly before 11 p.m., telling students and faculty to “resume normal activity and report any unusual activity to police”.
Police tell Fox News they are still searching the area. The killer died after exchanging gunfire with two police officers who confronted him.
