Power Boost Punches Up ’17 Lincoln MKZ Refresh
Midsized sedans are typically among the bestselling cars in America from month to month and while luxury sedan buyers have traditionally preferred larger vehicles, there has been a great deal of growth in the segment of the Lincoln MKZ.
As for the fun part, the Lincoln MKZ will be available in three different variations, namely, the hybrid version, a modest 2.0 liter GTDI and my personal favorite, the monstrous 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine.
Lincoln had a surprise in store for the 2015 L.A. auto show: the significantly refreshed 2017 MKZ. Front-drive models will make 350 hp. If you opt for the Driver’s Package for MKZ, you will get the Dynamic Torque Vectoring that enhances cornering agility without compromising ride comfort, helping drivers enjoy a smooth, seamless experience. Finally, Lincoln is debuting a new “auto-hold” brake feature on the MKZ: when arriving at a long red light, or when stuck in gridlock traffic, MKZ drivers can simply press a button to engage the brakes without actually keeping the pedal depressed. The suspension has also been retuned for the package.
The interior gains a number of new switches and dials that replaces the capacitive touch slider controls.
The cabin is a haven of sorts with specially designed doors that create optimal positioning for the speakers connected to a Revel audio system, three Lincoln Black Label interior packages, in-home design consultation and panoramic glass roof.
The most noticeable change with the 2017 Lincoln MKZ comes up front, where the winged grille design is completely removed and in its place is a bolder, more upright front end featuring a similar grille and headlight design to that first seen on the Lincoln Continental Concept.
The new 2017 Lincoln MKZ will go on sale in the summer of next year, with pricing yet to be confirmed.
