Power problem causing Skytrain delays
An unspecified “power issue” has shut down service in both directions on the Expo and Millennium lines, and TransLink is telling commuters to expect delays.
The transit authority first blamed the service outage on a problem train near Stadium Station, then narrowed it down to “power issues” at that and the Main Street/Science World stations. The Expo line is still running between Broadway station east to King George.
Service is only running between VCC-Clark and Columbia stations. The release also states that all passengers have been evacuated from stranded trains and none remain on board.
A shuttle bus is being implemented to run between affected stations.
Crews are working hard to restore full service, but passengers should expect delays and allow extra travel time.
Drennan said no passengers are now trapped between stations on any SkyTrain cars – a SkyTrain was stopped just outside one of the stations, but was soon moved back so passengers could disembark.
