Powerball announces winning numbers for record jackpot
While millions of Americans crossed their fingers and rubbed their lucky rabbit’s foot, it was all for naught, as no one matched all the numbers in Saturday night’s multi-state Powerball Lottery. They are: 16, 19, 32, 34, 57, and Powerball 13.
Each Powerball jackpot starts at $40 million.
The estimated winnings, already their highest at approximately $900 million, are now expected to rise to around $1.3 billion for the next drawing on Wednesday.
The largest US lottery jackpot in history remains at stake following Saturday night’s Powerball drawing rollover.
But for all the excitement, Grief urged those hoping to hit it big not to spend more than they can afford on the $2 tickets.
“I’m not spending more than $20 overall on tickets, I won’t go nuts like some people, but who knows?”
If you were to take home the projected $1.3 billion prize on Wednesday night, you still wouldn’t make it on FORBES list of the “400 Richest People in America”. Ticket holders have a 1 in 292,201,338 shot of winning the grand prize, according to the Powerball website.

Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The chance of no one hitting all five initial numbers and the Powerball number is growing slimmer, Grief acknowledged.
Before this current Powerball jackpot, the last largest jackpot was a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot.
According to the rules, the victor can choose to be paid the full jackpot in annual instalments over 29 years or take a lower one-off payment in cash.
Belferman said he doesn’t have to win the big jackpot. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are approximately 1 in 25.
Officials added the jackpot was not expected to increase any further prior to the draw.
