Powerball hits $1,5 billion, largest-ever lottery jackpot for one victor

– The odds of winning Wednesday’s record-breaking $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot are out of this world, but here’s a quick guide to improving your chance of winning.

That dream came true Saturday when Dominguez’s Powerball ticket yielded a $1 million prize.

No one matched all six Powerball numbers on Saturday night – 16-19-32-34-57 and Powerball number of 13 – so the jackpot is still theirs for the taking.

“You are 4 times more likely to be struck by lightning and die then you are at winning this Powerball”, said ESTEM High School math teacher, Mark O’Laughlin.

“They’re used to the 6/49, which has packages”.

According to their summary of winning tickets, 28 people won a $1 million prize.

“You got a better chance of being hit by lightning … but for two bucks, what the heck”, Johnson said. The Powerball drawing is held in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Ovechkin, who plans to get more tickets, says, “It was amusing”.

Between Jan. 6 and Saturday’s drawings, more than $900 million in Powerball tickets were sold.

A victor would have the option of being paid through annual payments over 29 years or opting for one smaller cash payment.
