Powerball Jackpot Expected to Grow to $400 Million
Seventy-five players matched four of the main numbers and the Powerball, 13 had the Power Play option and won $100,000 and the rest won $50,000 each.
The first Powerball jackpot of 2016 is worth a whopping $334 million.
It means the jackpot for Wednesday night is a $400-million annuity, or a one time cash payment of $244.8-million.
The odds of winning the jackpot on a single $2 ticket are 1:292,201,338.
Lottery officials say the jackpot could go higher based on ticket sales.
Saturday’s draw produced a total of 2,211,608winning players that shared prizes worth a combined total of $20,819,550.
All POWERBALL prizes are set payouts, except the jackpot.
Individual play tickets cost $2 and are sold in 44 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands.
The next drawing will be held Wednesday, January 6th. That jackpot is estimated at $145 million.
Iowa Lottery spokesman Kevin Kirkpatrick says Powerball’s largest jackpot was more than $590 million in May 2013. The drawing is at 7:29 p.m. Deadline is 7:08 p.m.
