Powerball jackpot grows to $400 million
The next Powerball victor will have a chance to claim one of the game’s 10 biggest prizes this week when the jackpot grows to roughly $400 million.
Powerball’s highest-ever jackpot was $590.5 million, won on May 18, 2013.
One ticket sold at Country Fair, 1810 Sassafras St., Erie, correctly matched five of the five white balls, 05-06-15-29-42, but not the red Powerball 10, to win $2 million, less applicable tax withholding.
The next Powerball drawing is set for Wednesday. The winning ticket was purchased in Bridgeport in Belmont County, across the Ohio River from Wheeling, W. Va. Tonight’s drawing is at 7:05 p.m., with ticket sales stopping five minutes prior to the drawing.
Purchasing the $1 Power Play option allows a victor to increase lower-tier prizes by a factor of 2, 3, 4 or 5, depending on the Power Play number drawn.
Winning Powerball numbers are announced every Wednesday and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. Central Time and posted at the Nebraska Lottery website, nelottery.com.
The $400 million jackpot is the highest since a $564.1 million jackpot that was hit on February 11, 2015.
