Powerball winners in Florida to be revealed Wednesday
David Kaltschmidt and Maureen Smith of Melbourne Beach are the second of three winners who came forward sharing in last month’s mammoth $1.6 billion US Powerball jackpot.
Kaltschmidt and Smith, married for years, told their family this past week they were the winners of the Powerball.
The Florida Powerball winners of the epic $1.58 billion jackpot have been revealed.
Smith bought the golden ticket at a Publix supermarket in Melbourne, Fla.
The winners stated they had been playing the same numbers for years and though they did not watch the drawing live, they realized the next morning they had the winning numbers.
Kaltschmindt said his co-workers suspected that he won when he showed up late to work the day after the winning numbers were announced, but he managed to keep them in the dark about the big win. They said they will use the money to help family members. She did say she’d like to get a massage. It’s very stressful…it’s new.and we really don’t know.
Now that they’ve been identified, Smith is “afraid it’ll make me less friendly”.
“We just kept quiet and acted normal”, Smith said, adding that the only input they sought was from a lawyer.
“Oddly enough, I checked the ticket and everything matched up”, Kaltschmidt said.
“I’ve just said hi to them a few times in the yard and they’ve been taking walks like they normally do”, Holmquist said. When asked why they sought a lump sum payment over a cash annuity, Maureen answered it was because of her age.
“Instead of designing airplanes, I’m going to be doing charities and tax strategies and investments”, Kaltschmidt said, according to Heavy. The winners in California have not publicly come forward yet.
The first prize was claimed two days after the winning numbers were drawn on 13 January.
